The estate's original main entrance was from East Lake Road; the surviving formal entrance consists of cobblestone pillars, bearing the name "Hillcrest" and the date 1899, and iron gates. Although these gates survive, they could not be linked to the nominated property due to intervening residential development. ... When the majority of the original estate's property was subdivided into approximately five-acre lots and developed with four new single-family residences in the early 1980s, the original driveway was truncated and the only access to the main house is now from Ridge Road.
